飯山市から嬉しいニュースが入りました。
本日、12月12日飯山市議会定例会の冒頭で、足立正則市長が木質バイオマス発電誘致の撤回を表明しました。

長野県飯山市の木質バイオマス発電計画をめぐっては、計画が明らかになった昨年夏ころから、地元の常盤区区長会を中心に、環境影響懸念や風光明媚な観光地の真ん中への立地による景観問題、地下水枯渇の問題など懸念、不安の声がでていました。
私たちちくりん舎にも問い合わせや相談がありました。そして今年、3月に初めて現地を訪問して、地元、常盤地域の皆さんに、木質バイオマス発電の問題点のお話をしてきました。
私たちは、木質バイオマス発電に福島県や周辺の放射能汚染木材が使われる危険性や、バグフィルターでは微小粒子は捕捉できず、周辺へセシウムを含む微小粒子が拡散する可能性、盆地である飯山市の立地での大気汚染の危険性などを指摘してきました。
その後も、5月と8月に飯山市のより広い地域の皆さんを対象に、学習会で講演を行ってきました。
これらの行動を通じて、地元常盤地区の皆さんをはじめ、飯山市内で木質バイオマス発電の問題点と飯山市の将来の姿を真剣に考える人々と信頼関係を築いてきました。
10月末には、前市会議員の江沢岸生氏が市長選に立候補し、環境を守るために「木質バイオマス発電誘致白紙撤回」を明確に掲げて立候補されました。残念ながら江沢氏は市長選では敗れました。しかし、地元の皆さんの自主的な調査や学習、江沢氏の選挙活動を通じた訴えは結果として大きなちからとなりました。
私たちも今年3月から飯山市の皆さんと一緒に活動し、このような結果を生み出せたことを大変心強く、また誇らしく感じています。
飯山市でのこの勝利をステップに、各地で進む大型木質バイオマス発電計画をはじめとする放射能ごみ焼却、放射能ごみのバラマキにストップをかける動きを強めていきたいと思います。
さっそく、前飯山市会議員、市長選候補者の江沢岸生氏からのメッセージが届きましたのでご紹介します。
「誘致撤回の判断を評価し歓迎します。市当局の誘致発表から1年半。市当局や進出希望企業に翻弄されながらも、私心なく真剣に地域を思い、学び、行動された多くの方々に感謝します。私も10月の市長選に際し「環境を守る、地下水を守る、景観を守る。そのため白紙撤回する」と公約。選挙には負けましたが、私への6,304票（得票率48％）はこれで生きました。」
